DULF Legal Aid Fund Update – 06/15/2026
Ah… so you have come at last.
You have arrived just in time to witness a most troubling spectacle.
The moon hangs overhead, silent and indifferent. The hour grows late. Our task requires $900,000, and despite the extraordinary generosity of those who still dare to hope, we have gathered only $625,259.
A curious number. 69%.
Ordinarily, such progress might inspire confidence.
But there are times when a number is merely a number, and a thermometer is merely a measure of how much farther one must climb before the darkness closes in.
What remains is $274,741.
An impossible sum.
Generosity has faded into dust. Promises have dissolved like mist at dawn. Potential benefactors pass by with lowered eyes, offering condolences instead of salvation. Each day the deadline draws nearer, and with it the distinct sense that we are watching the final sands fall through the glass.
There are moments in every journey when one understands that determination alone may not be enough.
That one may have come too far to turn back, and yet not far enough to survive.
This campaign was conceived to challenge unjust laws, defend compassion, and preserve lives that would otherwise be abandoned. The need has not diminished. The stakes have not softened. Only the path forward has narrowed to a thread.
And now we stand at the edge, smiling politely as the ground crumbles beneath our feet.
You have met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?
Perhaps there is still something hidden somewhere in the darkness.
Perhaps not.
If you are able, give what you can.
If not, bear witness.
The ending is approaching.
