DULF Gives Out 3.5 Doses of Community Regulated Heroin, Cocaine and Methamphetamine to VANDU Members, in Memory of those Lost to Overdose in September, in Spite of Health Canada and the Province's Continued Inaction on Illicit Drug Market Regulation
Vancouver, BC – As DULF continues the operation of, and begins the three month evaluation of, its Compassion Club, it has also distributed 3.5 grams of community regulated cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine, 10.5 grams total, to the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users. This action commemorates the British Columbians who died of overdose in September 2022 and is the eleventh such distribution of drugs, and part of DULF’s Dope On Arrival Program. By giving away a regulated supply of drugs, the Drug User Liberation Front (DULF) continues to demonstrate the life-saving potential of a community-led response to the overdose crisis.
To Health Canada and the Ministries of Mental Health and Addictions, we extend the follow message:
Many of those we know rest now, cold graves in cold earth. Sunken eyes, lost now; empty sockets in futile death. Our Federal and Provincial Government's lack of action to regulate the illicit drug market has caused this, and your deceit has fooled our society that it was worth the sacrifice. Your lies persuaded people to accept that you are "doing your best", your filthy pride cleansed you of the doubt you should have. You smile in the face of this death because you are so proud and vain, your inhumanity stops you from stopping the pain that you inflicted, you determined, you created- it is your inaction to change policy and regulate the market that has killed each person who has died of overdose. You never wanted an end or solution to the public health crisis, from the start you lusted after money and destruction. Your blood-soaked reason ruled out other innovations and your mockery gagged our voices, the voices of drug users themselves. So keen to play your bloody part, so impatient that your war be fought, you accuse us of disrespect for our society, but it was you who have slaughtered for political gain. Just how much did you care? What respect did you have as these bodies were sent to their graves? You use those deaths to achieve your ends still, using the corpses as a moral blackmail. You say "think of what those young people could have been had they not used drugs" as you try to bind us in your living death.
