DULF Legal Aid Fund Update – 07/31/2025
All flags are flying fully dressed on the government buildings.
The sun is shining.
Court begins in two months.
We have raised $88,000 of $350,000.
We screamed! O how we screamed!
Into the feedback void,
Into the scream-eater that turns agony into betrayal.
We became indistinguishable from noise,
And still they called us “brave”, “tragic”, “important”,
And still we will be flushed down history’s monetized sewer
with the rest of the unprofitable ghosts;
and still the spectacle will absorb us whole;
and there is no blood on the floor, just metrics on a screen.
Some of us will die – but it will not be you,
statistically sound citizen, you with clean hands;
death is too romantic for you;
death is the distraction from the horror of duration,
the sick momentum of surviving inside of a dead idea,
and the horror is this:
it ends not in fire or justice or even grief but in the void,
a picture of nothing that says: this is all there ever was.
We are alone.
There is nothing else.
There is no redemption arc,
there is no rescue,
there is no we.
Just you,
and the abyss.
The sun is still shining.
The flags are still flying.
The trial will still happen.
And so will the forgetting.
And what’s left? A t-shirt.
